IS THERE A SOLUTION
TO HELP PREVENT
TELEPHONE FRAUD?
THEY CAN'T HANG UP
Help for Elderly People Targeted by Fraud
Dear Sleepless in Iowa;
This one is a toughie, but there is good news. Our research and investigative team found a
new revolutionary product that just this month hit the commercial marketplace. We gave the
inventor a call and arranged for a live DEMO. Let me tell you we were duly impressed. This
gadget simply plugs into any phone jack in your home and when powered up - begins to work
instantly.
All you have to do is program a 4-digit number into the (PP) unit, and from that point on,
anyone who tries to reach you must know the code or the unit either dumps the caller or
sends these calls to an answering recorder in some back room or office in your home
without disturbing you. If the person knows your secret code (you give it to them)
then they can ring through.
BUT HERE IS A NIFTY FEATURE - the PPS model (for Seniors) does not allow anyone to leave a
message if they do not have the secret code. This way no sweet talkin scam artists can
leave a BAITING message for your grandma to call them back on a 1-800 number and then
steal her money. If the Scam Artists cannot speak to your Grandma, they can't sweet-talk
her out of anything, and if they can't leave a message for her to call them back, they are
really out of luck. This is the only device we know that truly offers protection against
these types of phone scams..
Good luck!
Miss Thang
Dear Miss Thang,
I have a grandmother living alone and have read horror stories about these Telemarketing
Scams against the Elderly. I've seen some of the reports on the web (seems there are some
70,000 web sites on this subject) and I am really concerned but have no idea what to do.
It seems like no one has a solution to actually keep these Telemarketers from dialing our
phone number even if our number is not published or listed in another person's name.
My grandma has a nest egg to keep her going but she is lonely and cannot say no to
anyone who treats her nice on the phone. She controls her own bank account and CD's and
has several credit cards - WHAT CAN I DO to help protect her?
